Monster Rancher Advance 2

Gameplay in Monster Rancher Advance 2 involves the creating, training, and fighting of monsters much like previous games in the Monster Rancher series. Like the first Monster Rancher Advance, the player generates monsters by inputting key phrases. This is unlike the rest of the series on disk based video game systems, in which they generate monsters by inserting readable CDs, or DVDs.

Monster Rancher Advance 2

Due to the limited memory and hardware of the GameBoy Advance, most monster breeds only differ by a color palette swap. This simple switch however, is also how it can achieve such a large monster count.

When generating monsters through Tablet Regeneration, any monsters that can't be generated due to being a locked species or a special monster, as well as any too big to fit into your ranch's barn, will not be added to the encyclopedia.

The Story so far: Chaos runs wild as breeder frustration begins to build. Both FIMBA and the IMa (International Monster's Association) have established breeder assistant services enabling breeders to seek monster training advice. Unfortunately, AGIMA (Age Island Monster Association) has yet to establish this service and many breeders are having difficulty taming their monsters. But Merdock, the Chairman of AGIMA, has faith in you! He believes that with the right direction, you too can be an excellent breeder. In realizing your need for assistance, Merdock has arranged for Holly, the top breeder, to assist you with your monsters. The journey will be long, but with the right training and affection your monsters are sure to become champions.

Monster Rancher Advance 2 lets players create, train, and fight with monsters of their own choosing. Monsters are generated by inputting text, which generates monsters with specific attributes. Each phrase entered will create a unique monster, which will always appear when that specific phrase is entered.

The Coaching System from the original Monster Rancher Advance has been dramatically improved for added depth in the sequel. Depending on the monster type, certain coaches will offer unique training sessions which other monster coaches will not be able to provide. These special training sessions can be very difficult and dangerous, yet have potential to yield major results. A monster's charisma and skills will also be crucial factors in deciding whether it is suitable to be a good coach or not. Coaches will now recognize and alert you to certain warnings which your breeding assistant may not notice.

The sequel is also backward compatible with the original game. You'll be able to send a creature from the first game into the second game via the link cable...a godsend if you've created a really good monster that you just don't want to lose. Players can also introduce their monsters to their friends' monsters. When this happens, monsters may take a liking to each other and form friendships. The meeting may change your monster dramatically for the better or the worst. For example, a hard-working monsters strong work ethic may be inspirational to a monster which was formerly lazy, but now changes and works harder. At the same time, a "bad-boy" monster may corrupt a formerly good monster with bad habits and a sour disposition. Meetings will result in rare monsters and special abilities, which are not available through standard play.

Ben Zackheim was born Ben Zackheim sometime before 1980 and after 1960 which characterizes him not at all. He's a writer of reviews, comics and screenplays, but aren't we all? Luxuries like food and shoes mean nothing to him. He's married to the most beautiful woman in the world, Robin, who reads all his reviews before he sends them in and says "Are you really going to write that for the public to read?" But I assure her no one reads my reviews anyway, only Charlie's, so it's kind of like a tree in the forest (without the cute little fuzzy things who smell their own poop - wait, then again there is Charlie...) She's a cross between Gillian Anderson and Hillary Clinton, which is a monster I'd love to play in Monster Rancher Advance 2. Photos are available upon request for a small fee. I'm currently writing this bio but have no plans beyond that. View Profile 2ff7e9595c
